Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We have another full day today starting with Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., followed by Luna’s Birthday Bash at 3:30 p.m! It’s Luna’s birthday and we are celebrating the bestest girl here at the library. We will have treats for Luna and for the humans at her party. Stop by and help us celebrate Luna, our amazing reading pet partner. At 6 p.m., we have our next Adult Craft Night. This time we will be making Book Garlands out of old recycled books. Lastly, at 7 p.m., we have Fox Animation Domination Trivia at Dry Lake Brewing. We will be quizzing you on everything from Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, American Dad, and The Simpsons. Winners get a free round of beer and other fun prizes from the library. Even if you aren’t a pro, you can still have fun learning something new while you enjoy some delicious craft beers. Registration for teams of 1 to 4 is open now on our website and you can register in person the night of the event.
Friday, to close out spring break, we have two events, starting with Spring Break in the Big City Search. All day long, look for landmarks around the library that you might find in a big city. Find them all and you might just get a treat! Then, at 3:45 p.m., teens can join us for our latest Teen Café. This time the theme is So You Wanna Be a Barista. Miss Haylee will be teaching teens how to make delicious coffee concoctions.
Monday brings a new day and new activities to look forward to. We will start the week off with Messy Art Monday at 4 p.m. This time we are making Tissue Paper Clovers to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Kids will get a chance to make art in a new way and take home a new piece of art to display on the Gallery of Fridge, which we all know only displays the most prestigious of artistic accomplishments.
Tuesday, in addition to our regular Story Time and Tech Tuesday, we also have Open Book Club at 7 p.m. This month we are discussing Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. “Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel prize-nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with – of all things – her mind. True chemistry results.” - Goodreads Grab a copy today at the front desk so you’re ready for the discussion Tuesday.
On Thursday, March 21, we have our regular Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m. and Read to Luna at 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., we have our monthly Teen Manga and Anime Club meeting. This month we are discussing and watching Blue Lock. We will also have a very special guest, Jayla, who will be coming in to teach our club about Japan. She has recently returned from a trip there and has graciously offered to come and share her experiences in Japan.
