Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Next week marks the start of September, and that means the start of all of our fall programming!

Starting on Tuesday, it’s the first, so of course it’s time for Spice of the Month. Pick up this month’s spice and a matching recipe before they’re gone. We also have the return of Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m. Early Literacy Story Time is an active time for little learners ages 0-5 featuring early literacy skills, picture books, finger plays, songs, rhymes, music, art, and movement.

Tuesday afternoon from 4-5:30 p.m., teens in grades 6-12 can join us in the Teen Spot for this month’s Teen Café, where we’ll be enjoying coffee and hot chocolate at our Library Loot Casino! Test your luck and see how much Library Loot you can win at this month’s café! Note: Please leave your Library Loot at home. We will provide tokens for play.

Join us Wednesday afternoon for our brand new program with K-State. We are partnering with K-State for a new series of cooking classes at the Great Bend Public Library. For our first program, we will be talking about hypertension awareness and prevention with a food demo and taste test. Who doesn’t love free food?! And if it’s good for you too, that’s just a bonus!

Then Friday, join us for Casual Game Fridays at 3:45 p.m., followed by an Adults Night Out Movie at 7 p.m. For this month’s casual game, put on your dancing shoes because it’s dance party time! Get your groove on and see if you can keep up the rhythm to a variety of songs from chart-topping hits to classic tracks in Just Dance.

Then for this month’s Adult Night Out Movie, get ready for an epic space adventure based on the best-seller Project Hail Mary. “Science Teacher Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory slowly returns, he soon discovers he must solve the riddle behind a mysterious substance that’s causing the sun to die out. As details of the mission unravel, he calls on his scientific training and sheer ingenuity – but he may not have to do it alone.” (Google. Come enjoy a free night of good popcorn and great cinema on us! The north doors will be open at 6:45 p.m. and will close at 7:15 p.m.
