Preceptor Pi provides fruit for schools

Preceptor Pi, Beta Sigma Phi, met on Oct. 5 at the Farmers Bank Meeting Room. Rosie Luthi read three award-winning poems from The Torch.  

Social Chairman Karen Reif reported nine members attended the luncheon on Sept. 29 at the The Gather in Ellinwood. 

Service Chairman Jeri Brozek thanked members for providing fruit for the USD 428 school project.  

Lois Johnson gave each member a treat bag of candy corn and peanuts and presented an interesting program about the history of candy corn. The process of making candy corn has remained unchanged for 100 years. New flavors for holidays have been added in recent years.

The second meeting in October was held on Oct. 19 at the Farmers Bank Meeting Room. Judy Krebaum read about beginnings of The Torch, the sorority’s magazine, which came out in January 1932.  

Members provided fruit again for students in USD 428.  

Social Chairman Karen Reif reported that seven members met at Braum’s for ice cream and visiting on Oct. 13. The Social Committee is working on plans for the sorority’s Thanksgiving Dinner.  

Cindy Meitler presented a program about the history of horror movies. Members kept a tally of which spooky movies they had seen over the years. Prizes were awarded to the winners.  

The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Farmers Bank Meeting Room.
