The Great Bend City Council Monday night accepted the resignation of Councilwoman Jessica Milsap. Milsap submitted her resignation letter from the 1st Ward council member seat with the term ending January 2021 due to a conflict of interest with her accepting the Great Bend Economic Development Inc. director’s position.

Now, in accordance with state statutes, applications will be sought from those living in the ward. Applications must be turned into City Clerk Shawna Schafer by Feb. 28, and applications are available at City Hall, 1209 Williams, or on the city’s website at greatbendks.net. 

Mayor Cody Schmidt then appointed a council committee to review and interview the applicants. It includes Schmidt and council members Alan Moeder and Cory Urban.

That committee will make a recommendation to the full council.
