An Ellinwood teenager was injured in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday. Zachary Pflughoeft, 19, of Ellinwood, was transported to Ellinwood District Hospital and was later transferred to a Wichita hospital, according to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office. His condition is not known.
The BCSO reports deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of SE 20 Road near Ellinwood around 1:07 a.m. Sunday. Investigation indicates Pflughoeft was driving south in a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe when he failed to negotiate a curve. The Tahoe went off the road into the south ditch, traveling several hundred feet before striking a culvert and becoming airborne. The vehicle landed on its wheels and continued more than 200 feet.
A 17-year-old passenger was not injured.
