Final Fridays on Forest wraps up for another year this Friday, Oct. 27, with a costume contest, ax throwing and recognition of the Great Bend Tribune’s “20 Under 40” award winners for 2023.
It all takes place from 5-9 p.m. in the Great Bend Alive Plaza, located in the 2000 block of Forest Ave. – west of the courthouse from Main Street to Williams.
As usual, the Final Friday event will feature food and alcohol vendors and live music. The street will be closed to through traffic at 1 p.m. as sponsors set up the free, family-friendly outdoor entertainment district.
The Great Bend Tribune invites the public to celebrate its 2023 “20 Under 40” award winners at 6 p.m. at Final Friday.
Today’s issue of the Tribune includes a full-color magazine showcasing 20 community leaders, all under the age of 40.
This is the second year for the “20 Under 40” awards. Tribune Publisher Judy Duryee said the individuals to be honored are committed to making a difference in our community and creating a lasting impact. “These winners show excellence in their careers, put a priority on community service and want to make their community the best it can be,” she said.
Lee Ann June from Great Bend Economic Development shared additional information about this month’s event:
“Hatchet Axtion is bringing their mobile unit to the alley beside the Tribune,” she said. “We will have our GB Alive big trailer further down the alley; ax throwing will be closer to Forest Ave. and open from 5-8 p.m.”
Eagle Radio will be streaming the GBHS Football game on the west side of Forest
The costume contest will begin at 8:30 p.m. Categories are Youth (17 & under), Adult (18 & up), and Group (any age, any size group). There are cash prizes for each category.
