GBHS students place at art show

Students of Sergio Ramirez, Great Bend High School art teacher, swept the painting and color media categories at the Barton Community College's Vortex Juried High School Art Exhibition on May 5. The local show features student artwork from Larned, Ellinwood, Hoisington and Great Bend high schools.

GBHS students placed in every category in which they entered work.

Award winning students include: 1st place, Rebecca Dawson, Cupcake, watercolor; 2nd place, Addison Westhoff, Chatter Box, watercolor; 3rd place, Valentina Schoenthaler, Paper Swan, acrylic; 2nd place, Madison Otter, Uncertainty, graphite; 1st place, Addison Westhoff, Pink & Blue, mixed media; 2nd place, Sarah Bullard Nelson, Warmth, colored pencil; 3rd place, Madison Otter, Serenity, colored pencil; and 2nd place, Savanna Purl, Atlas, paper/cardboard.
