Farmers Bank and Trust of Great Bend held its annual Charity Coffee on Wednesday and donated $6,500 to local organizations to use to help the community in many different ways.
“This marks our 21st year in giving back to the community through our charity coffee,” Farmers Bank Chairman and CEO W.R. Robbins said. “We have donated $110,000 over the past 21 years to help the community and it just happens that this is also our 110th anniversary of the bank being open.”
The three $500 donations went to Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired, Community Food Bank of Barton County and the Dominican Sisters of Peace. A $400 donation went to St. Francis Community Services and the Barton County DARE program and Catholic Charities each received $300 donations. The Salvation Army, Kans For Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation, Juvenile Services/Teen Court received $200 donations.
In addition, the bank awarded $100 and $50 contributions to the remaining organizations, together with Yvonne Robbins’ $50 matching funds to those recipients, for a total of $6,500 given this year. There were 35 organizations in all that received donations from the bank.
“We wanted to recognize all the organizations and all the hard work they do within the community,” Farmers’ Central Kansas Market President Robert Rugan said. “This event is to help the system and to make a difference to the people of the community.”
