Man arrested for kicking deputy

A Great Bend man suspected of shoplifting on Thanksgiving day was later arrested on a charge of battering a law enforcement officer.
The Great Bend Police Department received a report at 10:55 a.m. Thursday that Corbin Chester Cale had committed shoplifting at Wal-Mart, in the 3500 block of 10th St. He was arrested at 1:57 p.m. in or near the Quality Inn, which is located in the same block. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the call at 11 a.m. and Cale allegedly battered Deputy Melcher.
Cale was booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, interference of law enforcement officer and battery of law enforcement officer in lieu of $10,000 bond.
