Hoisington debaters place at league

HOISINGTON — Hoisington High School debaters Shannon Manka and Brandy Bodine went 3-1 and placed fourth out of 18 teams and received medals recently at the Central Kansas League Debate Tournament held at Sterling College.  They defeated teams from Halstead, Kingman, and Pratt.  They lost to a Nickerson team.
Robbie Willesden and Jadyn Spears went 1-3 at League, defeating a Larned team, but losing to teams from Pratt, Haven, and Lyons.  Joey Lewis was the alternate.  There are twelve schools in the CKL; nine of them have debate.
In action at Hays, Corbin Crawford tied for sixth in individual speaker rankings and received a medal.  Corbin Crawford and Logan McHenry went 3-2, defeating two Garden City teams and a team from Salina-South.  They lost to teams from Great Bend and Salina-South.
In their first debate action ever, Joey Lewis and Kenzie Wolf went 3-2, receiving a bye one round and defeating two Garden City teams.  They lost to teams from Salina-South and Larned.
Action continues for the Cardinals this weekend at Junction City.
