Post-Holocaust movie 'Denial' is next Movies with a Message feature
Denial movie poster

The movie “Denial” will be shown Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Heartland Center for Spirituality for the fall series of Movies with a Message.

The movie begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, 3600 Broadway Ave. A freewill offering will be accepted to offset the cost of refreshments.

Based on the acclaimed book “History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier,” “Denial” recounts Deborah E. Lipstadt’s (Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz) legal battle for historical truth against David Irving (Cannes Award winner Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. In the English legal system in Defamation cases, the burden of proof is on the accused, therefore it was up to Lipstadt and her legal team to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred.

Other movies in the series include “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” (Tuesday Nov. 19) and “Millions” (Friday Dec. 6).
