According to the Hoisington Police Department, on Thursday the Hoisington Police Department with the assistance of the Great Bend Police Department’s K-9 Unit, executed a search warrant to recover stolen property in the 100 block of East 7th Street in Hoisington.
The search warrant was executed without incident and two males were arrested for outstanding warrants.
While searching the residence for stolen property, HPD officers discovered illegal narcotics, paraphernalia and a device believed to be a pipe bomb. HPD Officers discontinued the initial search effort and contacted the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for assistance.
Agents with the KBI, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and a bomb disposal team from the Wichita Police Department responded to the request for assistance.
Throughout the evening hours law enforcement officers rendered the suspected pipe bomb safe and the subsequent crime scene was processed for evidence.
Additional charges are being considered to include narcotic violations, firearm violations and possession of an explosive device. The investigation continues with no additional information being released at this time.
