SCOTT CITY — G.T. Riner, 90, passed away July 26, 2011 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born on July 31, 1920 in Comanche County, the son of William Walter and Ruby Ellenette Hanan Riner. A resident of Scott City, since 1953, moving from Protection, he was a farmer. On May 3, 1942, he married Doris Wait in Protection. She survives.
Mr. Riner was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scott City, past member of the Masonic Lodge and the Co-op board, both of Scott City, and held many different positions in the church including Deacon, Trustee and board member.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Riner, Scott City; two sons, Ronald Ray Riner and Billy John Riner, both of Scott City; three daughters, Roma Lee Murphy, Great Bend; Trudy Marlene Eikenberry, Scott City; and Connie Sue Wilkinson; Dearborn, Mich.; a sister, Billie June of California; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29 at the First Baptist Church in Scott City with the Rev. Kyle Evans officiating. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday, both at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or Park Lane Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home.
