GREAT BEND — Ronald “Ron” Lynn Drake, 63, passed away October 26, 2020, at the University Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. He was born July 17, 1957, at Farmington, New Mexico, to John & Mary (Campbell) Drake. He was married to Marcia Kite for 32 years and they later divorced. He married Dana Scothorn July 10, 2010 at Great Bend. She survives.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Ron was the owner of Drake’s Lawn Service for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter, a great cook, he loved to play all different sports, tell stories, and was an Elvis fan. He knew how to put a smile on your face and especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. 

Survivors include, his wife Dana Drake, and son, Jace Drake, both of the home; two daughters, Alicia Mong and husband Bryan of Sand Springs, Okla., and Melissa “Rooney” Edmonson and husband Jesse of Hutchinson; two stepsons, Justin Scothorn of Great Bend, and Jonathan Scothorn of Hutchinson; a brother, John Drake and wife Sandy of Lakeland, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Madison Galemore and husband Jerry, Alexis “Lexy” Montoya and fiancé Jacob Stanley, Raylynn Mong, Aaron Edmonson, and Austin Edmonson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Amy Foster presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Jace Drake Education Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
