Barton’s players earn NJCAA honors

HUTCHINSON – Barton County’s Keshon Montague earned the Bud Obee Small Player Award at the 2018 NJCAA Tournament. Montague scored 29 points and dished out seven assists in an 82-80 quarterfinal loss to Eastern Florida State.

Montague, a 5-11 freshman from Ontario, Canada averaged 18 points and six assists during the NJCAA Tournament. The Cougars finished with a 29-7 record under coach Crag Fletchall.

The Cougars defeated Tyler, Texas 86-63 and upset No. 1 ranked Indian Hills, Iowa 85-83 to earn two victories.

Barton’s Marvin Cannon earned NJCAA All-Tournament honors. Cannon averaged 21 points and 14 rebounds per game in the NJCAA Tournament.
