Larned 46, Lyons 42
LARNED – The Larned Indians sank 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to outlast Lyons 46-42 in a non-league game basketball game between Central Kansas League teams.
Isiah Perez made six free throws in the quarter to give the Indians a 46-42 lead. Grady Kirkhart kept Lyons close with a 3-point shot and two free throws to cut the lead to 44-42.
Tyler Stelter led Larned with 10 points. Jordan Zimmerman and Tanner Galliart scored seven apiece.
Larned improved to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the CKL.
Lyons made 10 free throws and led 18-15 at halftime after Larned committed 11 turnovers. Larned made 16 free throws after halftime and made four more turnovers. Larned won the rebounding battle 41-22.
“We showed a lot of resolve and determination,” said Larned coach Don Zimmerman. “We guarded without fouling the second half. We did a lot better handling the basketball the second half.

St. John-Hudson 90, Cunningham 24
CUNNINGHAM – St. John all-stater Dean Wade scored 26 points and Cole Kinnamon scored 25 points to spark the Tigers past Cunningham 90-24 in a non-league basketball game.
The Tigers led 32-8 after one period and 57-13 at halftime. St. John’s Jacob Milton added 10 points. The Tigers improve to 6-0.

OTIS – Kyle Patrick scored 30 points to spark Otis-Bison past LaCrosse 64-44 in a non-league basketball game between Central Prairie League teams. Otis-Bison improved to 5-0.
Nick Higgason added 12 points. Sheldon Schmidt led LaCrosse with 21 points.

Hoisington 56, Pratt 53
PRATT – Steffan Dolechek scored a game high 24 points to lead Hoisington High past Pratt 56-53 in a non-league basketball game between Central Kansas League teams.
The Cardinals improve to 2-3 and Pratt drops to 1-4. Pratt visits Hoisington Jan. 6 for a rare back-to-back match-up. The Cardinals were coming off a loss against Kinsley in the fifth-place game at the Gene Keady Classic.
Dolechek broke a 30-30 tie with back-to-back baskets that sparked a 9-0 Cardinal run. Dolechek’s free throws gave the Cardinals a 54-48 lead. Seth Owen scored 17 points and Chris Wright added 11 points.
“Steffan really attacked the basket and Seth Owen worked hard inside,” said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. “I’m really excited how we played offensively and defensively. We did a great defensive job.”
Pratt’s Samson Kohman and Brandon Ruckle scored 15 points apiece and Spencer Sullivan added 14 points.

STAFFORD – Macksville outscored Stafford 25-21 in a wild fourth quarter for a 56-52 Central Prairie League basketball victory.

Ellis 51, Ellinwood 47
ELLINWOOD – Brendon Brenner scored 21 points and Ellis held off pesky Ellinwood 51-47 for a non-league basketball victory. Ellis outscored the Eagles 19-16 in the fourth period.
Ellis improved to 6-0 and Ellinwood dropped to 3-3.
Marc Waite led Ellinwood with 13 points and seven rebounds. Gavin Vink added 12 points. Cole Wondra grabbed nine rebounds. Tyson Martinez had four assists. The Eagles made 2 of 15 3-point goals.

ELLINWOOD – Delaney Beckwith scored 16 points and Ellinwood’s girls stayed unbeaten with a solid 46-35 non-league basketball victory over Ellis High School.
Rachel Doll scored 10 points and had three assists. Allison Panning grabbed 14 rebounds, had four steals and dished out three assists.

ROZEL – Minneola outscored the Pawnee Heights girls 17-0 in the first quarter and rolled past the Tigers 56-15 in a SPIAA league basketball game.
Taylor Pfaff led Minneola with 16 points and Sydney Jaeger added 10 points.
Felicity Cedillo led the Tigers with four points.

LARNED – The Lyons High girls sank five 3-pointers and forced 13 first-quarter turnovers to lead 27-10 en route to an easy 59-33 victory over Larned in a non-league game basketball game between Central Kansas League teams.
Brenna McClure and Rachel Minix each scored 15 points for Lyons (5-1). Allie Aldrich paced Larned (1-5) with 11 points and Kelsey Parr added seven points.
The Indians made 8 of 20 free throws and made 19 first-half turnovers against the Lions’ pressure.
“We got into a hurry and you can’t get down like that,” said Larned coach Tricia Prescott. “We got scatter brained the more pressure they put on us. We’ve got to keep working on that.”
