The family of Darlene D. Shaw announces she will celebrate her 85th birthday on Nov. 7, 2021. The family will celebrate with a private birthday dinner but are hosting a card shower. 

Darlene is the daughter of the late Eugene and Lillie (Drews) Lathrop and is the only child in the family. Darlene is the wife of the late Russell Shaw, whom she married on June 6, 1956. They have five children together.

Darlene is a lifetime resident of Claflin and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoys flower gardening, playing cards, and loves watching sports on TV and in person. Through the years, Darlene has proudly followed her kids and grandkids near and far as they competed in various sporting events. 

Darlene’s immediate family includes sons Randy (Jaye) Shaw of Kansas City, Mo., and John (Carla) Shaw of Bayfield, Colo.; daughters Sherri Shaw of Claflin; Tammie Jacobson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and Stefanie (Don) Herter of Great Bend. Grandchildren include Marisa (Tim) Kanger of Bennington, Neb., Christopher (Morgan) Shaw of Winter Garden, Fla., Victoria Shaw and fiancé Dan Rey of Winter Garden, Fla., Jared (Ali) Porter of Smithville, Mo., Jackie (Justin) Vogt of Schertz, Texas, Ashley Shaw of Pittsburg, Lindsey Shaw of Marshall, Texas, Candace (Marcus) Ortiz of Glendale, Ariz., Braeden Jacobson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Reegan Jacobson of Boise, Idaho, Brynna Jacobson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Alyssa Herter of Great Bend. Great-grandchildren include Austin and Luka Kanger, Taisley, Tydus and Teagan Ortiz, and angel Aiden Allen Riddle.
