Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Our Summer Library Program is now in full swing! Today (June 8) we have a jam-packed day of fun planned, starting with 123 Andrés at 10:30 a.m.

123 Andrés are a Latin Grammy-winning music duo whose catchy songs and lively concerts get the whole family dancing and learning, in Spanish and English. At 3 p.m. we have Tween Scene for children going into fourth grade through sixth grade. This week we will be making Shrinky dinks and boho peace sign wall art. At 4 p.m. we have our teen program Upcycle It!, where we will learn how to make mini hanging gardens from plastic bottles. At 6 p.m. we have our June Adult Craft where we will be making macramé keychains. Lastly, at 7 p.m. we have Decades Trivia Night at Dry Lake Brewery. Test your knowledge of the two grooviest decades for a chance to win free beer and other fabulous prizes.

Friday afternoon at 2:30 we have our first Casual Game Friday of the summer. We are kicking things off with Nintendo Battle Royale Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Sign-up opens soon for our  TeenBookCrate, the subscription book box without a fee! This theme is Summer of Scares. Visit greatbendpl.info/teensbetween Monday, June 12, and Saturday, June 24, to reserve your spot on the list. Be sure to add swinging by the Teen Spot on Monday to pick up our June Teen Takeout to your to-do list. Each kit includes the recipe to make your own Kohakutou (Crystal Jelly Candy) at home.

Weekly Story Times continue Tuesday with Baby Bounce Story Time at 9:30 a.m., followed by Friendship Circle Story Time and Kindness Kids Book Club concurrently at 10:30 a.m. Also happening on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. is our first Tabletop Teens, where we will be making our own tabletop games to play with friends and family.

Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Elsenpeter Marionettes will be here performing their rendition of Sleeping Beauty. The Elsenpeter family’s skillful manipulation of their hand-carved marionettes brings their characters to life, delighting the young and the young-at-heart alike.

Next Thursday we are happy to welcome back Miss Luna, our reading Pet Partner Dog, and her handler, Glenn. They will be here every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to noon starting June 15. Come grab a book, sit down, and read to Luna. Reading time counts towards your summer reading goal, and you could win a National Geographic Kids magazine subscription if you log the most time with Luna through the summer! Don’t forget about Tween Scene starting at 3 p.m. We will be trying out our teen program Casual Games Day and getting to play some Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Lastly, join us starting at 6 p.m. on June 15 to meet Mr. Joe Boley, our Third Thursday Speaker this month. He will present “Thumbnail Sketches” about Great Bend history as remembered by an early day pioneer, Leo Chapman.
