A teenage motorist was injured and his passenger died after a Jeep crashed Friday evening in Pawnee County, one mile east of Rozel on K-156.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports Todd A. Hopkins, 53, of Garden City was a passenger in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler driven by Evan William Hopkins, 16, also of Garden City. The Jeep was eastbound on K-156 and for an unknown reason went across the highway and into the north ditch around 5:27 p.m. Friday. The Jeep continued traveling east in the ditch until it hit a field entrance, went airborne and rolled end-over-end 1.5 times before coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Both of the Hopkinses were taken to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Both had been wearing safety restraints.
