TIMKEN – The Timken Hill and the Timken Fire Department are teaming up for a hamburger feed fund raiser for cancer victim Jeanette Holopirek from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the restaurant, just off K-96 outside of Timken. There will be a free-will donation. For more information, contact Linda Hampton at 620-285-7455.
Holopirek is a 27-year-old Timken native who was first diagnosed with cancer of the sinuses in November 2002. She was declared free of cancer three years after the initial surgery, but the cancer returned a year later and she’s had to undergo radiation treatments approximately every year since. Her right eye was removed due to cancer in July and she will soon be spending two and a half months at the University of Indiana Proton Therapy Center in Bloomington, Ind. for treatment. She will be accompanied by her mother, Alice Holopirek of Timken.
