More than 180 people purchased tickets to attend last Sunday’s Holiday Tables Spectacular, which raised more than $3,300 for the Great Bend Beautification Committee.
This year’s event marked the seventh year that the Beautification Committee has held Holiday Tables Spectacular. Fourteen tables with a wide variety of holiday themes were on display for those who purchased a $10 entrance fee to attend the event. The tables were decorated by area businesses and individuals and the themes ranged from elegant, traditional, classic and cultural to quirky, wintry fun.
For the fifth straight year, Rosewood Furniture Gallery, 1607 Main, was transformed into a showplace of warm holiday cheer in an effort to help the Great Bend Beatification Committee raise funds to improve the community. Great Bend Beautification Committee member Judy Reed said a raffle was held this year for a chance to win a "Gardening Santa," hand sculptured by Loretta Miller. The 24-inch Santa, dressed in gardening attire and equipped with tools, a watering can and seed packets, was won by Terry Vink. Besides the entry fee and the Santa raffle, the committee also offered silent auctions for cakes and a gift basket, which contributed to the total raised for the fundraiser.
