Larned Music Club hosting pianist Patrick Orr
Patrick Orr

LARNED — Award-winning pianist Patrick Orr will present a recital Tuesday, March 7 at the Jordaan Room of the Larned Chamber of Commerce, 502 Broadway.

The free recital is being sponsored by the Larned Music Club, beginning at 7 p.m. The public is invited; refreshments will be served.

Orr has planned a repertoire with something for everyone, including a classical Beethoven piece, a modern number by Scriabin, and the familiar “Claire de Lune” by Debussy. With dazzling technique, he approaches big bravura passages with polish and plays the more poetic parts with artistry and sensitivity. His opener is “Mayon,” a concert fantasy by Philippine composer Francisco Buencamino, Sr. Utilizing a Filipino folksong as the main theme, it depicts the disruption of a tranquil village by a volcanic eruption.
