Quilting Bees guild meets
LARNED — Members of the guild met Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church.
Guests included Jenny Manry and her daughters Sarah and Audrey, who were welcomed by president Colleen Wolf.
Announcements included the Quilting Diva Sale on Saturday, Nov. 14 in the fellowship hall of the church from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Hand-made quilt items will be for sale. Refreshments will be offered. The public is invited. Park in the back of the church.
Diane Schultz announced a quilt show at the art gallery at Barton County Community College beginning Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. for quilters in the community only. The show is from the Paducha, KY. “9-Patch” challenge.
A prayer quilt for Jayne Rucker has been made by Gayle Fanshier. Mary Weber distributed the block of the month “Disappearing Pinwheel” to be completed during the month of November.
The next regular meeting of the guild will be on Tuesday, Nov. 16 with election of officers for 2016 to take place. Show and Tell participants were: Karen Hadley, pumpkin wall hanging; Becky Obermiller, blue and yellow block of the month “Pumpkin Seed”; Ann Hicks, pillow slip French seams, ten minute table runner and gift bags.
Larned VFW Auxiliary
sets luncheon Nov. 11
LARNED — The Larned VFW Auxiliary is serving a noon meal on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11 at the Post, starting at 11:30 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m.
There will be three different types of soups to pick from, sandwiches, desserts, and tea or coffee. A nominal fee will be taken at the door.
Proceeds help with various worthy projects such as donations to VA hospitals, Wounded Warriors and the VFW.
