New opportunities to participate in Giving Tuesday

Planning for this year’s Giving Tuesday on Nov. 27 has started at the Golden Belt Community Foundation. The event was previously for GBCF endowed funds, but this year the foundation is making changes to the campaign so that any qualified charitable organization in Barton, Pawnee, Rush or Stafford counties has an opportunity to participate, said Nikki Omenski, GBCF development director.

Representatives from participating organizations will need to register and they must attend one of the scheduled information meetings at the GBCF office, 1307 William St. Programs are from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21; 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27; and 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2. These meetings are designed to answer questions and explain the new changes. Funds raised may be granted directly back to the charitable organization or added to its endowment fund at GBCF. Match money is available and there are new incentives to participate, including school challenges.

Participants who are unable to attend one of the meetings in person should make arrangements to meet with the foundation by appointment. Organizations must opt in for Giving Tuesday by Oct. 15 in order to participate.
