LARNED — Director Michael Wysong and assistant director Karlee Rainbolt portray key characters for Larned High’s production of ‘The Masked Musketeer,” Saturday and Sunday. Wysong will portray Lorenzo, one of the Three Musketeers. Rainbolt will portray Delfina.
‘The Masked Musketeer’ is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Larned Community Center.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students, which helps purchase equipment and costumes.
Larned High School sponsors three productions each year, ending with a play that typically is light hearted. After actors audition for parts, they have nine practice dates to prepare for the show.
The play tells the story of a small Spanish village overrun by Bandits. Eventually, a trio of would-do Musketeers are helped by a mysterious Masked Musketeer.
There is hidden treasure, a hostage and of course — a surprise ending.
“It’s becoming to get harder to cast characters because it’s becoming more competitive for parts,” said Janet Fleske, Larned High drama teacher. “The students always enjoy the spring play.”
The Masked Musketeer cast features the Villagers Ethan Banman (Mateo); Michael Wysong (Lorenzo); Jahman Hill (Felipe); Brianne Smith (Catalina); Carrie Kellie (Isabel); Karlee Rainbolt (Delfina); Meredith Rogers (Silvia); Joelle Keith (Corina); Allison Stejskal (Marcia); Dallas Munden (Sancha); Bailey Avery (Lucia); Jessica Johnson (Lolita); and Rachael Herter (Mariana).
