PITTSBURG — Lance Luhman Sayler, 70, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on May 09, 2023, at St. Francis Ascension Via Christi in Wichita, Kan.
Lance was born on June 8, 1952, to Jerome and Elsie (Luhman) Sayler in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Lance graduated from Great Bend High School in 1970. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
In 1986, Lance started KZXL in Great Bend, Kan. In 1991, he moved to Pittsburg, Kan. as General Manager of KKOW. In 2004, he became President of SEK Broadcasting. In 2011, Lance started Arrowhead Outdoor, LLC, a digital media company.
In 2018, Lance received the Distinguished Service Award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and was inducted into the Kansas Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
Lance was an avid softball player. Growing up he was the Four Square Champion of Bloomington, Minn. His true passion was spending time hunting with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Eric Sayler (Mandy) of Leawood, Kan. and Troy Sayler (Mimi) of Denver, Colo.; their mother, Susie Sayler of Overland Park; one sister, Karen Sadler (Walter) of Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren, Sydney Sayler, Anthony Jerome Sayler, and Owen Sayler. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday May 17th with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m.at Brenner Mortuary.
