Glen Amerine and his wife Pat started Amerine Utilities Construction Inc. in 1977 with three employees. Today, 37 years later, the long-standing Great Bend-based underground utility contractor employs 40-50 people.
“Our area of work covers all of Kansas and the surrounding states with occasional work north to Canada and south to Texas, including work in the U.S. Virgin Islands,” Glen said. They specialize in horizontal directional drilling for pipeline work.
For 22 years, Amerine Utilities has been a member of the Power Communication Contractor Association, a national contracting organization. Glen completed his term as president for 2013-2014.
“We are always looking for young, energetic people who are looking to make a career in placement of underground utilities,” Glen said. The company will have a booth at the Central Kansas Job Fest from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Best Western Angus Inn Courtyard, 2920 10th St. in Great Bend.
