CHENEY — Larned High golfer Dorothy Keenan defended her title with an 86 that captured first place in the Central Kansas League-Central Plains League golf tournament. Keenan shot an 86 that beat Hoisington’s Delaney Smith by four strokes at Cherry Oaks Golf Course, the site of the Class 3-1A state tournament Oct. 19.
Hoisington captured the CKL-CPL team title with a 377 total that edged Larned by six strokes. The teams will meet again in Monday’s Class 3-1A golf regional at Pretty Prairie. The top three teams qualify for the state tournament at Cheney. Hoisington is coached by Bruce Cooper. Toni Novotny is Larned’s coach.
Hoisington’s Madie Wilborn placed seventh (94), Jaci Schremmer finished eighth (95) and Sydney Boxberger placed 11th (98). Larned’s Emma Ayre placed sixth (94) and Haley Skelton tied for 14th (101).
