The Friends of the Library members have sorted books, videos, audio books and more for the annual Great Bend Public Library Book Sale. The sale for the public begins at noon Monday, running until 8:30 p.m., and continues Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Friends of the Library member Mary Ann June said books and other materials have filled the tables in the basement meeting room and more are overflowing in boxes under the tables. As space is made, more books will be placed on the tables. Some of the largest selections are large print books, romance books and mysteries. This year’s sale has a large collection of children’s books, movies on cassette, audio books on compact disc, and a variety of non-fiction books, especially crafts and health.
Members of Friends of the Library will get first look at items during a pre-sale from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, October 16. Anyone can join the Friends organization and shop the pre-sale. Annual dues for the Friends of the Library are $10, and memberships may be obtained at the sale.
"The Friends who have sorted books this year have commented, ‘there are so many books!’" June said, The money raised from the book sale will benefit the Great Bend Public Library throughout the year.
