A Great Bend woman died and two passengers were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near the K-156 interchange on I-70.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, identified as 40-year-old Danielle Hoskins of Great Bend, was traveling westbound on I-70 in the right lane about a quarter mile west of the K-156 interchange at shortly after 2 p.m. Hoskins went to cross the median at a interstate crossover when she was struck in the driver’s side by 2014 Volvo semi, driven by Robert L. Mueller of Murfreesboro, Tenn., which was traveling westbound in the left, or inside, lane. Both vehicles came to rest in the median.

Hoskins was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, 17-year-old Grace Hoskins and 13-year-old Shay Hoskins, were both transferred to Ellsworth County Medical Center. Shay’s injuries were believed to be serious, while Grace suffered what were believed to be minor injuries. Mueller was not injured in the crash.

All occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
