ST. JOHN — Dorothy Lou John, 87, died Oct. 30 at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. Born Oct. 25, 1923, in St. John, she was the daughter of Clair J. and Grace (Long) Witcher. On Aug. 29, 1948, she married Milton Mason John, Jr., at St. John. He survives, of the home. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1941 and attended Adela Hale secretarial school. She was employed at the Stafford County Courthouse and Post Office and retired after 20 years a Selective Service clerk for five counties. She also worked at Hearthstone Nursing Home and the St. John School system, finally retiring for good in 1990.
Mrs. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. John.
Other survivors include granddaughter Erin and husband Pedram Rahbar, great-granddaughter Alexia John, and great-grandson Kamran Rahbar, all of Marietta, Ga.; a niece, Jo Moody of Little Elm, Texas; a nephew, Jerry Johnson of Canton, Ga.; and other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; siblings; and two sons, Dru Hunter and Mason Kent John.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, St. John, with Pastor Roy Nelson presiding.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John. Memorials may be given to the church, Leisure Homestead or South Wind Hospice, all in care of the funeral home.
