Glenn Allen Miller

Glenn Allen Miller, 92, passed away Feb. 24, 2023, at Keepsake Kottage in Wichita. He was born July 7, 1930, in Great Bend, to Clarence M. & Alverta J. (Gaunt) Miller. Glenn graduated from Great Bend High School in 1948. After graduation and turning 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. His military service was later celebrated when he participated in an Honors Flight to Washington, D.C. After his honorable discharge in 1952, he returned to Great Bend and continued his career at Miller Printers as printer until his retirement.

He married Patricia Ann Ratliff of Larned, Kan., on Aug. 23, 1951, when they eloped to Clayton, N.M. They were married for 58 years until her death on Dec. 31, 2009.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, having recently moved to Wichita, Glenn was a member of the Christian faith, American Legion, Kiwanis Club and past member of the V.F.W. Post #3111 and the Great Bend Cemetery Board. Glenn greatly enjoyed time spent with friends and family and took great pride in having a pristine lawn.

Survivors include, his son, Scott Miller of Harrison, Ark.; his daughter, Julie Straub and husband Larry of Andover, Kan.; four grandchildren, Christopher Hagler and wife Tracy of Kansas City, Mo., Vanessa Jeroue of St. George, Utah, Hillary Straub of Durham, N.C. and Brantley Straub of Wichita, Kan.; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his brother, Richard Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Miller; a daughter, Valerie Miller; two brothers, Carlos Miller and Merle Miller; and a sister, Rena Mae Miller.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Dick Ogle presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials have been designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
