Howard V. Whithorn 1919 - 2011

HOISINGTON — Howard V. Whithorn, 92, died Dec. 1 at Harry Hynes Hospice, Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 6, 1919 in Hutchinson, he was the son of Virgil and Almeda (Wallace) Whithorn. On Dec. 4, 1959 he married Doris A. Turner in Kingman. A resident of Hoisington since 1962, he was the retired owner/operator for Peerless Pest Control in Hoisington.

Mr. Whithorn was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife, Doris A. Whithorn, of the home; a son, Larry Whithorn, of Hutchinson; four daughters, Carol Richardson, of Chase, Sharon Snell, of Hutchinson, Bonnie Miller, of Edmond, Okla., and Rona Smith, of Wichita; two brothers, Lee Whithorn and Warren Whithorn, both of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Whithorn; and four sisters, Alice Lightner, Dorothy Mackey, Velma Miller, and Evelyn Hendershot.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Hoisington Cemetery with the Rev. Don Fisher officiating. Friends may visit from 1 to 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time on Monday, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
