John Boy Keener

HOISINGTON — John Boy Keener, 44, died Feb. 2, 2025, at his home in Hoisington. He was born Jan. 1, 1981, in Hoisington, Kan., the son of Dalton L. and Patricia M. (Purcell) Keener. John Boy was a truck driver for Warren Davidson Trucking.  

In May of 2003 he married Tiffany Riley, they later divorced. He then married Honey Lee Summers on April 13, 2013 in Hoisington. 

John loved demolition derbys and drag car racing. He was a man of many hats, who loved his family, friends and especially his dogs. 

He is survived by his wife, Honey Keener of the home; children, Jasmine Keener of the home, Steven (Neveah) Keener of Chase, Kasey Keener of the home, Elizabeth (Nathan) Hemken of Great Bend, and Katrina Hemken of Winona; a grandson, Ivan Keener; father, Dalton Keener (Barbara) of Pawnee Rock; mother, Patricia Keener of Russell; brother, Billy Bob (Elaine) of Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ethan Gentry Riley-Keener.

Per John Boy’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and inurnment will be in the Pawnee Rock Cemetery. Friends may sign the book at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the John Keener Memorial Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
