Maria Ramona Palleschi 1931 - 2016

WINTHROP, Maine — Maria Ramona (Lemuz) Palleschi was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Albert. She was the daughter of Cirilo Lopez Lemuz and Josefa Marquez Lemuz. Maria (known as Mona to friends) graduated from Rozel High School in Kansas and attended the Dominican School of Nursing, and became a licensed registered nurse (RN).
Mona married Donald Palleschi in 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Larned and moved to Winthrop, Maine where they raised a family on picturesque Maranacook Lake. She worked as an RN in the operating room at Augusta General (MGMC) for 26 years and in the medical clinic at the State Psychiatric Hospital for 10 years before retiring in 1998.
Mona was a truly kind and gentle soul, and she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Her faith in God was a source of inner strength, and she maintained that strong faith throughout the most difficult times. Through her words and actions, she taught her children and grandchildren to look for the good in every person and each circumstance. Mona exemplified a loving and caring nature in all facets of her personal and professional life.
A member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Winthrop, she enjoyed giving back to others—whether it was though her participation in the Catholic Women’s Club, serving meals at the Soup Kitchen, or performing random acts of kindness. Her hobbies included target shooting, playing tennis, golf and watching her beloved Boston Red Sox.
She was predeceased by her parents; and seven brothers Lawrence, Andrew, Luis, Luciano (Louie), Jesus (Jesse), Gonzalo (Steven), and Frankie all of Kansas. She is also predeceased by her infant son Patrick.
Mona is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Rowe of Winthrop, Maine and Liza Johnson (and her husband Andrew), and two sons, Domenic of Monmouth, and Dino of Winthrop, Maine; six grandchildren, Jill Milliken (and her husband Devin), Carla Ahearn (and her husband Brian), Crystal Palleschi (and her fiancé Dan St. Laurent), Stephanie Palleschi, Shane Johnson and Tyler Rowe; six great-grandchildren, Colby, Logan, Karson, Spencer, Drake and Evan; three brothers Isabel (Tony) Lemuz (and his wife Linda), Isaac Lemuz (and his wife Sherry) and Robert Lemuz; and four sisters Angela Rayla, Baldomera (Mary) Del Heirro, Helen Asher and Luisa (Louise) Pierce all of Kansas.
Mona’s life was celebrated at a mass of Christian burial at noon on Wednesday, March 23, at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 20 Lake St. Winthrop. The interment followed at Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop.
