Great Bend's State champion Kaylin Wahlmeier finished a perfect 13-0 sweep of Liberal with three strikes to cap a 222 Baker game. Wahlmeier (645) posted games of 203-229-213  to earn medalist honors.

Wahlmeier was backed up by third-place Emilee Nelson, 525 (187-164-174); fourth-place Zoey Mayberry, 515 (175-170-170); and fifth-place Brooklynn Mayberry, 496 (179-160-157).

"I had a good day. It was a good roll today. I lost it a couple times, but we picked it up at the end," Wahlmeier said. "We enjoyed our finish. We've showed we're going to be strong in Baker games. I'm pushing to shoot over 700 sometime this season."

The Panthers swept three series games and four Baker games to earn the 13-0 sweep.

"Kaylin is our leader who played consistent," said Great Bend bowling coach David Feldbauer. "It's nice to have four or five girls shooting over 500 scores. Consistency is great because you can count on a score."

Great Bend's Daegan Miller earned his first varsity medalist honor (559) with consistent games of 191, 184 and 184. Backing up Miller were third-place Quinten Miller, 513 (141-191-181); and fourth place Joshua Manning, 487 (140-163-184).

Deagan Miller posted his high varsity score.

"It's exciting. It was a good score today. It was fun experience," Miller said. "I've been medalist in junior varsity, but never varsity,."

Great Bend's boys rolled past Liberal 11-2. The Panthers improved game scores from 591 to 679 and 721.

"Daeger threw a consistent shot today," Feldbauer said. "It's a work in progress with so many young players. We put up good numbers today."

The Panthers compete at Wichita's Great Plains Tournament Friday and Saturday with three individual games and 12 Baker games before 8-team match play starts. The Panther girls won last year's tournament.
