Paul Snyder, a 25-year veteran of the Kansas Department of Corrections, will take the helm as warden of El Dorado Correctional Facility, Corrections Secretary Joe Norwood announced Monday.
Snyder, who is currently a deputy warden at Winfield Correctional Facility, will replace EDCF’s interim Warden Dan Schnurr on April 8.
“Paul brings years of correctional experience and internal knowledge that will serve El Dorado Correctional Facility well,” Norwood said. “He has a proven track record that demonstrates his dedication to the KDOC’s mission of making Kansas safer.”
Snyder began his career with the KDOC in 1993 as a corrections officer at EDCF. Snyder, who also worked at Ellsworth Correctional Facility, rose steadily through the ranks to become a corrections supervisor, a unit team manager and then deputy warden in 2010. He first served as EDCF’s deputy warden of programs before transitioning into the position of deputy warden of support services. He then was named the deputy warden at the Wichita Work Release Facility before becoming the deputy warden at Winfield Correctional Facility in 2016.
“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and excited to be coming back to El Dorado,” Snyder said. “There’s lots to be done and I’m ready to get to work.”
Snyder earned his associate degree in administrative justice from Butler County Community College and a bachelor’s degree in human resources and organizational leadership from Rasmussen College.
