ELLSWORTH — A 17-year-old boy drowned Saturday while swimming at Kanopolis State Park. It happened at the park’s South Shore swimming area.
The sheriff’s office received a call around 3 p.m. about someone whose body had been underwater at the lake for close to 10 minutes. Ellsworth County Sheriff Tracy Ploutz said Trevor Blair of Ellinwood was not breathing when he was pulled from Kanopolis Lake about 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Ploutz said he had been submerged for about 45 minutes. Emergency responders performed CPR as Blair was transported by ambulance to Ellsworth County, where he was later pronounced dead.
