Helping Hands Preschool, along with Great Bend USD 428, has a limited number of openings available in the 4-year-old Pre-K program for the upcoming school year. This program is free — except for a $40 initial enrollment fee — and is sponsored by a grant from the Kansas State Board of Education.
Helping Hands Preschool administers this program through USD 428 for children living in the Great Bend school district.
To qualify for the program, children must be 4 years old by Aug. 31 of the upcoming school year, and live in the Great Bend school district. The child and/or family must meet at least one of a number of other criteria, such as: qualify for free lunch program through school or the Food Assistance Program; single-parent family; parents were teenagers when the child was born; at least one parent does not have a high school diploma or GED. After the $40 initial enrollment fee there are no further fees for this program. Free busing is available.
Helping Hands Preschool enrollment is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washington Early Childhood Building, 2535 Lakin Ave.
