A Russell County man has been arrested and is currently being held in Barton County Jail charged with the July criminal damage, arson and burglary of St. Anne’s Catholic school Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir reported Friday morning.
Sheriff Brian Bellendir noted that Matthew Clampit had been arrested by Russell County law enforcement in connection with the July 10 criminal damage and arson of St. Anne’s Catholic School in Olmitz in Barton County. Investigation has involved several out-of-state agencies as well as the RCSO and the Russell Police Department.
The arrest took place on Sept. 17 by RCSO deputies. Clampit was charged with criminal damage to property, arson and burglary of a non-dwelling for his involvement in the case. He was transported to Barton County Jail and is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond. Bellendir noted that damage in the case was expected to exceed $50,0000. Three more suspects have been developed and arrest warrants are being sought by the Barton County Attorney’s office. Further arrests are expected.
